This is an ultrasound image 'cutting through' a finger at the level of the metacarpal bone. Fibers of the extensor digitorum tendon are shown to be retracted. The ultrasound appearance suggests scarring of the tendon sheath which envelopes the tendon. White horizontal line represents the cortex of the bone.
