The early explorers, unable to see beyond physical horizons, were locked in a two-dimensional view of the world. As technology advanced, allowing them to travel beyond that horizon, their view of the world went from flat to curved to round, opening up whole new options for exploration.
The medical doctor known as a radiologist is an explorer of the human body. Frustrated with relying on external signs to detect illness, early radiologists searched for a means to examine the living body without poking, shaking or prying into their patients. (Now that had to hurt!)
Today, thanks to advances in medical science and radiology, being examined by a doctor is not nearly as traumatic an experience. From simple x-rays to the most high-tech 3-D imagery, radiologists can now examine and diagnose illness inside the body from outside the body. Which is much nicer, and saves you the trouble of having to say, “Ahhhhhh.”
